U18 beach squad returns from Tashkent with Asian bronze and a World Championship ticket
The Qatar Volleyball Association welcomed home the national U18 beach volleyball squad on its return to Doha from the Uzbek capital Tashkent, after a distinguished continental achievement: the bronze medal at the Asian Cup, together with qualification for the World Championship to be held in the Netherlands this July.
The delegation was received with flowers at Hamad International Airport by Mr Youssef Ahmed Kanoo, the association's Secretary General, Mr Mohammed Salem Al-Kuwari, board member and chairman of the beach volleyball committee, and Mr Sherif El-Shemerly, general supervisor of the national teams committee, who praised the distinguished level the players showed throughout the tournament and the fighting spirit they displayed in every match.
The national team secured the bronze medal with a straight-sets victory over Australia in the third-place match, continuing the young Annabi's strong presence on the continental stage and confirming the progress of Qatari beach volleyball at age-group level.
The achievement marks an important milestone ahead of the team's forthcoming participation in the World Championship in the Netherlands, where the coaching staff and players aim to keep delivering performances worthy of Qatari volleyball.
