Mr Ali Ghanim Al-Kuwari, president of both the Qatar Volleyball Association and the West Asian Volleyball Association, took part in the meetings of the Board of Administration of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), hosted in Lausanne, Switzerland, alongside the FIVB president and board members, representatives of the continental and national federations, and a number of the sport's leaders from around the world.
The meetings covered a range of strategic files bearing on the future of volleyball, technical and administrative alike, and approved a number of development programmes and initiatives intended to widen the game's reach and raise its rate of growth worldwide in the period ahead.
The board also reviewed the latest developments in the commercial growth of the sport through the Volleyball World platform, together with preparations for a number of forthcoming international competitions and events — foremost among them the 2026 Volleyball Nations League, the Boys' U17 World Championship that Doha hosts this August, the U18 Beach Volleyball World Championship in the Netherlands, and the Beach Pro Tour — as well as preparations under way for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Those present further discussed progress on the World Beach Volleyball Tour project, preparations for the FIVB's forthcoming congress, and plans for an expanded edition of World Volleyball Day in 2026, following the considerable success of the previous edition.
