Qatar's senior men's volleyball team face Iran on Sunday evening at the association hall, in the series of preparatory friendlies they are playing ahead of the World Championship hosted by the Philippines from 12 to 28 September.
The team are continuing their daily training at their residential camp in the association hall, in the final phase of preparations, having played two friendlies last week against Egypt in which Qatar drew on both occasions.
In the first match Egypt took the opening two sets 26-24 and 25-15, before Qatar came back to win the third and fourth 25-18 in each case.
In the second, the sides traded sets: Egypt won the first 25-14, Qatar replied in the second 25-22, Egypt moved ahead in the third 25-15, and Qatar levelled in the fourth 25-21.
Qatar continue their friendlies against Iran on Sunday and again on Tuesday, before closing the camp with three meetings against Ukraine on 4, 6 and 7 September, the final stop before travelling to Manila.
The draw placed Qatar in Pool B alongside Poland, the world's top-ranked side and holders, the Netherlands and Romania — a group regarded as among the most difficult of all.
The team begin on 13 September against the Netherlands, meet Poland on 15 September, and close the first round against Romania on the 17th.
This is Qatar's second appearance in the finals of the World Championship, after the 2022 edition held in Poland and Slovenia.
