The Qatari national beach volleyball team is set to face off against the Cuban team tomorrow, Saturday, as they kick off their journey in the 2025 Beach Volleyball World Championship taking place in Adelaide, Australia. The tournament, which commenced today, runs until November 23 and features 48 participating teams. Competing in Group 10, the Qatari team will also contend with Austria and Switzerland during the group stage. The national squad, comprised of duo Sharif Younis and Ahmed Tijane, is eager to secure victory in their opening match, aiming to make steady progress towards the later stages of the tournament. Following their match against Cuba, the Qatari team will face Switzerland on Sunday and conclude the group stage with a match against Austria on Monday. The participating teams have been divided into 12 groups, each consisting of 4 teams. Currently ranked sixth globally, the Qatari beach volleyball team is up against a strong Cuban squad that is ranked tenth in the world, promising an exciting opening showdown. The national team aspires to add yet another achievement to its impressive record, which includes winning a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and finishing fourth at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Additionally, the Qatari team has recorded an impressive eight gold medals this season in various international tournaments, highlighting the significant progress of Qatar’s beach volleyball scene in recent years.
